Recyclable Handling Equipment (RHE)

Recyclable Handling Equipment is commonly utilized to gather recyclable waste from various disposal points within a building and consolidate it into a single collection point. The installation and implementation of this equipment offer significant benefits to the general public, as it serves to raise awareness about the importance of recycling in today's society, ultimately contributing to the creation of a sustainable and habitable environment.

  • PV has successfully collaborated with the Housing Development Board of Singapore (HDB) in the introduction of the Centralized Recyclable Waste Collection System. The initial trial of waste chutes was implemented in the common areas of each floor in a Choa Chu Kang block in 2006. This was followed by the implementation of the system in Treelodge@Punggol, which became the first public housing project in Singapore to achieve the prestigious Singapore Green Mark Platinum certification.
  • The results of this initiative have demonstrated a significant improvement in the rate of recyclable waste collection, with an increase of approximately 3 to 4 times compared to other HDB precincts. Furthermore, the amount of recyclable waste collected from a typical HDB block without a recycling chute was found to be four times less than that collected from a block equipped with the centralized collection system.
